Google Maps - keyboard controls

Hitting plus and minus on the keyboard allows you to zoom in and out on Google Maps.
In Opera 22.0.1471.70 and 24.0.1534.0 these controls work BUT they also cause the browser zoom level to increase and decrease.
This does NOT happen in Chrome, IE11, Firefox or Presto btw.
Is there any kind of workaround for this? I use the keyboard quite a bit on Google Maps.

Still broken with version 26.0.1656.60.
Still working in Chrome, IE11, Firefox and old Opera.

Hi @pete8475, if you want, you can try to follow the steps, which I mentioned here, and see if this helps.

Yeah that seems to disable plus and minus zoom functionality in general which is NOT something I'm interested in doing.
Google Maps specifically is broken in current Opera.
Use any other up to date browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE11) and go to Google Maps you can use the plus and minus keys to zoom just the data shown to you on that page. Current Opera even though it's based on Chrome has broken this.
BTW even Presto versions of Opera do this properly.

Just noticed I've been updated to 27.0.1689.76 at some point and this is still broken.
EDIT - Submitted yet another bug report on this issue.

There's no need to submit more than one bug report.
I have to disagree. When a bug like this exists through countless versions what are we supposed to do? Ignore it? Every other modern web browser does this properly, in fact Opera 12 does too. As end-users all we can do is post about it here and report it Opera and it seems like the posts here don't really register with anyone that works on the browser.
This reminds me of the topgear.com fullscreen display issue that plagued the 12.x versions. Users of the old Opera forum insisted that was a "feature". Thankfully that got fixed after switching away from the old rendering engine.
Anyhow I'll continue to report it with each new version and post about it here until it gets fixed.
Have a good day.

If fthe buig was already reported, you can just put a little reminder here (or even better in the appropriate entry at the Desktop Team blog if a new stable version is released without the fix.
Reporting the same issue lots of times will only make the testers toi waist their times marking the reports as duplicated and won't make the fix to come quickly.

I'd be very surprised if your Opera zoom level ISN'T changing when you use the plus and minus controls.
Click and drag to move around the map first, then hit + a few times, now click the Opera button and see if your zoom level is 100%. If it is still 100% Opera behaves differently for you then it does for me on either of my laptops or the 5 desktops I have Opera installed on.

Posting here about a bug isn't really going to get anything done about it. This is a user support forum. The devs don't hang out here much. Your best bet is to post a comment in a release announcement soon after its gone up. Sorry we can't be of more help.

Btw, DNA-18109 listed in this changelog seems related. So if it's not fixed yet the it will be in 29.

I just installed the beta version of 29 (29.0.1795.21) and it is in fact fixed!
Hopefully v29 gets rolled out as an update to everyone soon.
