What percentage of people are adapting well to the new Opera?

I've always hated Chrome because so many things are not possible compared to Opera. Then Opera uses the foundation of Chrome for their new product. Ugh. Its like Ferrari using a Toyota frame and drivetrain for their next product.
So....are people finding the features they need through extensions?
And how about the Opera Mail stand alone program. Does it work better in any way than Mail in Opera 12? It wasn't a top quality thing but it was pretty good and for most people more than adequate for their needs. Guess we just get used to some stuff.Nothing ever was what it looked like in Opera. There is a good reason why they changed to develop chromium more.
you know Opera used to be the safest browser, right? I feel they did have a problem staying that way. And chromium may be not the safest interface, used by such a many people, but as Suntana said, they always found a way to be innovating. I guess Chromium does get better, and Opera doesnot need to invent the wheel every time. But they still use wheels, adapted to their engine, not the other way around, even it looks that way indeed. -

How do I revert my download manager back to it's single line elegance (which could display >20 download, as apposed to the current 4)>

To use a Chrome Extension, all you need is to have installed the Opera extension, "Download Chrome extension" https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/download-chrome-extension-9/?display=en Or Extension Source Viewer https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/extension-source-viewer?display=en [/blockquote]Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. Opera's Download manager was a fit for purpose tool, the current one is not. When will it be restored? (If I wanted to use chrome extensions I would use Chrome.)

Now if you see something better on the web that you could live with, just right click on it, and save it as your theme. [/blockquote]What part of "Off" is hard to fathom? I'm delighted you're delighted, but if it's no longer a feature, it ceases to be a reason for using Opera over other browsers.

No reason you can't adapt easily.
[/blockquote]There's no reason I can't just as easily adapt to any other new browser. Why should I invest in Opera?

Change shouldn't be 'welcomed', change should to be managed, I understand the business case for abandoning Presto, however what I don't understand is the abandonment of long established features.
Sadly you've provided no compelling argument for Opera, but plenty for extensions, sadly extensions are available in multiple platforms.
I guess I'll check back with version 33 and see if it boasts any improvement.

For those who want old opera notes in Opera 15+ Go to: https://github.com/hallvors/opera-notes-extension
On lower right side download zip file. Extract it where you can remember it. On Opera extensions page enable developer mode on top right of page. Hit Load Unpacked extension button and point to the extracted file. Once done hit options for the new extension, open notes.adr file from old opera in Notepad, select all, copy and paste into the open window and save. You now have all old notes and ability to make new ones as well as a Add to notes in context menu. -

And for whoever said private tabs wasn't available in any current browser, not true. Firefox still has private tab but you have to download the extension Private Tab. I use it in Palemoon.

Why bother? Your mind is closed (and already made up) so you'll be happier with another browser. So... see you back at version 33 (but my guess is: far before that number! LOL).

I've used Opera non stop for years (before Windows 98) and then there was the upgrade to a Chrome look alike. I tried to continue using V12 but on Windows 8.1 it would lock up chronic on my slow line.
So sadly now, FF gets my vote. I've got speed dial, Adblock etc etc and it works just about fine ... just wish it would open tabs like I like them to be opened. Biggest thing I do miss is the old bookmark side bar. The problem I find is that I really did like the old customisation of Opera. I do have Opera on my system but it very rarely gets opened since it failed to upgrade last time around. It was good while it lasted. Yes, the world has moved on.... me too

Closed to what exactly?
There's nothing in Opera 15+ to be closed to. All the features previously pioneered by Opera are gone or degraded.
What exactly is the value proposition of Opera (With extensions) over Chrome with extensions?
Neither has the features or flexibility I actually want (or use).
so you'll be happier with another browser. So... see you back at version 33 (but my guess is: far before that number! LOL).
Frankly Opera 15+ is much like Windows 8, some really great under the skin improvements marred by a fatally flawed (and ugly) UI.

I am trying to adapt but I am not really feeling it sadly.
And can you three, I think who you are, stop saying there are extensions for everything and this and that.
That never works as good as it built in, as long as they can not really "extend it in to the program".Why would I want several different add-ons/extensions to do small but important things with there own little icon I have to click on every time?
This opera Next does not even work correct here in the forums, it does not load the avatars.
I have spent the entire day, well, off and on, to find a good replacement for 12.17, but not really feeling anything. Now I am trying to get this latest Opera Next to usable performance, but well, not really getting there.
To me it feels like the people working on it now are not at all the same people that made the old so good and have no idea what really made it so.

I don't care what it feels like to you. The company is doing very well whether you like it or not. The most popular browsers (i.e. Chrome, Firefox) use a myriad of extensions to add functionality to their browsers according to what individuals want. Opera is now doing the same. There is an extension for Notes. If your Notes are so precious to you, use the extension. Otherwise... find another browser or do without.

I was not talking to you about how it feels like, but the starter as he asked how many are adapting well.
If they are doing very well maybe they can hire some more programmers then to speed up the development?
What I and I guess many others are complaining about and that I don't understand why they praisers of the new opera are so furiously defending is that Opera used to have (yes in another engine) a whole bunch of amazing features.
What I cant understand is that when you update your program you just stop supporting what you had and throw the users a underdeveloped beta of your new program. Normally I would expect a developer to keep supporting the old until the new was as good as that.
The other browsers never had the functions in it in the first place anyway.

it's a little early to say their doing pretty well. bloomberg reports they had a first quarter loss in 2014.

Link?
Their financial report for 1Q2014 shows a profit. Their revenue increased 40% over 1Q2013.

They are the basically the same thing. Opera Mail is just Opera 12 without the browser part.
so is opera mail still going to be developed (updated for new os etc, security holes patched etc)? or is it abandonware? i still prefer it over thunderbird but suspect it is heading the path of the presto.
