      I disagree.

And what a setting to avoid massive posting would be? It's certainly not an anti-spam setting although it can help avoiding massive spam from a user.

        WHAT!!!
What stops you from making that crooked damn' "spam-blocker" dependent upon some data!!!
        What!!?

First you should understand that this is not an spam blocker but a flood blocker. The goal of this setting is to avoid people posting those (usually unnecessary) two/three words comments that don't bring anything useful and serves only for increasing post counting.

          A moderator!!!
While I'm a member since 1815 - Before Christ Sake, Gosh! And had 1.000 million trillion posts etc. on MyOpera, I - along with many others - can be spared from that frequency abomination!
Well, I'll tell you how I use the forum.
I take a look and reload the "Overview" page time to time. If something's new, I go there, and I reply till something's resolved or like that.
I don't reply just because I have internet and keyboard!
          So I come, make my 2, or 5, or 20. Then I don't post.
          WHAT!!?

            Do you read my comments!!?
I don't say "abolish" - I say "improve"!!! Let me do my 5 in 5 minutes -- and go drink my tea!!! WHAT!!?

And why you want so bad to be able to post more in a certain period of time? It's really necessary for you to post "so many" in a short period of time?

This is a forum, not a speed competition.

SPEED!!? What do you call "speed"???
Initially, I was talking about the Lounge! You know, my interenet connection loads pages ok!!!
And I f^ck*** don't need to spend HOURS to answer 5 questions in the Lounge!!! Nobody needs!!! Everybody has their own lives! And they have a good connection to get done with "the current chatting" in 5 minutes! When you're able to be done in 5-15 minutes -- who are you to command me to waste my NERVES and LOADS of time - making a friendly discussion a REAL DANGER of getting an ulcer and breaking the keyboard in vain trying to get without F*** words?

I'm a very friendly person usually.
You want what??? USING ***ING UNNECESSARY **IT make me get sick AND banned!!?
                Come on!!!

Yes, it may be. And could you please behave like a capable adult human being? Acting like a child whose toy had been taken won't help you.

I don't think that things will change in a near future, so you will have to get used to it.

You meant "to put up with"?

Andreas, in the Name of Sake! :scared:
Make the filter using our postcount and/or badges/status to vary the blockage: newbies non-monkeys can oblige as it is up to 100, monkeys up to 10; then you SIMPLY can drop that! Or if you BELIEVE you can't - drop it to 60sec&5mins! already. What the Heck!!! 😕

I think the time limit is good enough, it makes people think a little more before posting and (try to)avoid people that like to keep posting just to update his/her post count.

Maybe you're right. Nobody else complained?
Quite for long I didn't feel it myself now. I bumped into it yesterday only when I felt myself I was unusually nimble. 😉

So, what is the proper name for this filter - if it's not aimed at spam exactly?
                            Though Andreas said: >

Unfortunately we have to have pretty strict measures in place to limit the amount of spam on the forums. If we ease the restrictions in the Lounge section, it's a pretty safe bet that the Lounge section would see an increased amount of spam.

It's a flood control filter. It can help fighting against spam but it's not mean only for that.

The anti-spam timer is set too tightly or too rigidly. It just blocked me for 10 minutes for "posting 2 times within 120 seconds"... but my second post was simply a quick "markdown" typo-repair of my initial post. Then when the timer ran out, the post auto-double-posted my edit as a new post (which I then again edited away the text). (https://forums.opera.com/discussion/comment/15195955#Comment_15195955)

The problem with such a 10-minute delay penalty is that for an edit, with this goofy forum format, if I navigate away from the forum page, it will dump all the edit text when I navigate back via a forward/back button. So either I have to open a new browser window/tab to browse further or cut/paste my edits over to Notepad and then return to the page to post by reversing the cut/paste back to post after the timer runs out... all without overshooting the 30-minute editing timer which is also running. The anti-spam timer ought not to apply when editing.

Edited to add: And it just now did it again, after editing the above-referenced dupli-comment, and then coming here to make this new post, now I get to wait another 10 minutes for the crazy forum system penalty timer before I can do anything else in this browser window or else lose this text. Exasperating beyond words!!! X/ 💣

Post edits shouldn't be counted for the flood control timer.

Black, this last time I bumped into this, I hit "Save draft".
                                    It worked. ☕
