Could we have a little arrangement so that in the Lounge we had a less severe filtering?
Bots can handle several posts in 15 seconds. O'k, let it be 20-30 seconds for the Lounge. ?
At least if you wouldn't or can't, the temp.blocking could be twice (or thrice?) less.

It just blocked me for 10 minutes for "posting 2 times within 120 seconds"... but my second post was simply a quick "markdown" typo-repair of my initial post. Then when the timer ran out, the post auto-double-posted my edit as a new post (which I then again edited away the text). (https://forums.opera.com/discussion/comment/15195955#Comment_15195955)

The problem with such a 10-minute delay penalty is that for an edit, with this goofy forum format, if I navigate away from the forum page, it will dump all the edit text when I navigate back via a forward/back button. So either I have to open a new browser window/tab to browse further or cut/paste my edits over to Notepad and then return to the page to post by reversing the cut/paste back to post after the timer runs out... all without overshooting the 30-minute editing timer which is also running. The anti-spam timer ought not to apply when editing.

Edited to add: And it just now did it again, after editing the above-referenced dupli-comment, and then coming here to make this new post, now I get to wait another 10 minutes for the crazy forum system penalty timer before I can do anything else in this browser window or else lose this text. Exasperating beyond words!!!
That idea has merit, at least insofar as some of the more spam-free forums exercise something similar. The key is to spread it out over both time and posting count... and the posts have to be relevant to the forum, not just gibberish or copied text from other posters. That, in turn, requires continual forum vigilance by users/mods to report and weed out any such nonsense of spammers trying to create a legitimate 'reputation'. Basically, it builds and monitors a database on new members until they've proven themselves by various criteria. Unfortunately ideas with merit also are ideas that generally have costs attached - cost, time, creativity, and coding/maintenance manpower in most cases. Whether Opera is willing or able to make such choices is, of course, up to them and their economics.

Even make it harder? More than 2 posts in 3 - not 2? And the subsequent block - for 15 not 10?
While for much more mature users the filtering could get lighter? As I said - 60 (or even 30) instead of 120, then 5 instead of 10? To make it gradual?
It is possible - isn't it?
If not only for the lounge - 3 posts instead of 2? Huh?

Spam is like a body of water held back by a dike. Relax for a moment anywhere along the dike, and the smallest hole will quickly become a torrent. The moment the spammers find the filtering/mod'ing is relaxed in any way in a forum, they'll flood it. They're constantly testing and teasing at the boundaries... and as soon as they find any kind of opening, they'll crowd through.
