No problems since the update, thanks. The new swipe up to close tabs makes the operation of the browser much faster.
Please don't remove the auto-fullscreen feature, this is one more reason you're better than Chrome!
An option to block video and audio streams from auto-playing is almost becoming a need though, as ads already started to abuse that...

The XDA developers forums is a really good test for auto play ads. It really is annoying when it keeps launching full screen.

Can the tab close gesture be updated to include swiping downward to close? Sometimes swiping up doesn't work as when a tab leaves the list of open tabs, it just falls back into the tab window like a bouncing ball instead of closing.
It would be awesome if the next Opera for Android update has improved tab closing gestures.

@ngamer01 As a matter of curiosity, are you using the phone UI layout with the navigation bar and tabs at the top?

@rafaelluik Classic layout. URL bar is at the top and the nav/tabs at the bottom.
I'm using the Samsung Exhilarate i577 with Android version 4.0.4.

I disabled all spyware Google apps from my tablet and also wonder why this change for the worse (no direct links) was done.

Blocking ads. Does anyone have a recommened method?
I am coming from Opera 12 which used urlfilter.ini but it seems I can't configure Opera that way now (and Opera 12 runs laggy on my tablet which is the reason I upgraded to 22.

acqqui:
if your tablet is rooted, use adaway.
if not, use ad block plus.
they aren't in the play store, so you'll need to google for them.
ad blockers however will not work when off-road, turbo, opera mini, or opera max are in use. -

tenchi71, we don't autoplay videos, that is controlled by the sites. We try to avoid letting videos to autoplay when the tab is in background, apparently there is some case on the site you visit that we don't catch properly, could you provide us the address to it?
The automatic full screen, is something we have added for convenience. We are aware of some problems connected with it -- and I really understand your frustration if it auto-starts in full screen from a background tab. That is definitely not intended behavior!I have the same problem with videos autplay. I did put in the address www.gamersglobal.de for example and immediately a video started to play in full screen mode. I couldn't even access the tab bar anymore and had to close browser.

If a website has embedded video, like even a small ad video, then it starts playing it full screen. This is definitely not desired. Pls revisit this. We don't need embedded videos to play in full screen automatically. -

Pff, auto-fullscreen is very convenient. They'd still waste bandwidth and play sound regardless. The problem is in auto-play, not in auto-fullscreen.

The problem is in auto-play, not in auto-fullscreen.Auto full screen is definitely not convenient when you are not interested in the video but just checking the webpage. For example, this website bangla.bdnews24.com/. This has ad videos on the right side and when they play full screen, the entire site is not usable anymore. I simply don't understand why a video need to play full screen without user wanting to do so. A website is not all about videos and it has other contents. Why suddenly one content, like a video, need to take control of the entire screen.

What makes the video ads start automatically is auto-play, not auto-fullscreen.
Auto-fullscreen can still exist when you willingly press a video's play button.
