Video autoplay is the single worst feature of Opera for Android.

I'm quietly browsing the news on my phone while at place XXX - any place you can imagine where it wouldn't be suitable to play loud sound - and then all of a sudden, I get full screen video with full sound blaring out of my nice quiet web reading session.

This is NOT OK. I do not consent to web sites auto-playing videos.

On my PC, I can control autoplay with flashblock and other tools.

But on Opera for Android, I'm a hostage - and you are enabling websites abuse of me. They are bombarding me with loud sounds and videos I do not want and did not ask for, ramming video ads down my throat while I try to read through a text article, and you're helping them with full screen video.

Frankly, I don't want full screen video for any mobile web browser - I use youtube when I want video - but I understand that other people have different preferences.

But at least provide an option to disable auto-play! It's incredibly, unbelievably rude, and makes me afraid to browse the web with Opera.

There is not, and never was mouse gestures in Opera for Android. And, from what I gather, from using a bit of common sense, I believe you have posted in the wrong topic in the wrong part of the forum.

So, just as a friendly suggestion, in future, think a few things through for a second before you throw yourself into a fit of a rant and start reeling of all sorts of negative attacks. 'Do I really need to post this ?', 'Has this already been posted by someone else ?.', 'Am I posting in the correct thread and the correct part of the forum ?.', 'Is my feedback constructive, rude or derogatory ?.'

Oh, and just FYI, I'm still using Opera 12.14 (of which 12.17 is currently the last classic (Presto) version of Opera) and it still works for me.

I finally caved in and upgraded from Opera 13 (stable, user-friendly, mouse gestures, bookmarks, etc - easily the best browser I've ever used) to v22, and suddenly all the things that drew me to the browser in the first place have been either removed or made completely redundant!

I was horrified to see that the mouse gestures have been all but incapacitated entirely, so that the "right-click, drag down and release" gesture only opens a new tab, and doesn't open a link in a new tab! You've also disabled the "open in background tab" gesture - what on Earth for?

The removal of the bookmarks feature is just downright ridiculous and stupid, and the alternative we're presented with is a glorified speed dial that's frankly crap. Add on top of that the fact that it's nowhere near as stable as v13 was, and you've left me gob-smacked and disappointed. I'm looking at other alternatives at the moment, because this is just the single most stupid move that's been made yet. Yes, there are extensions available for bookmarks, but a) none of them are particularly any good, and b) why should I have to install a 3rd-party extension for bookmarks, a fundamental, integral part of any browser? Under the same mentality, car manufacturers might as well start selling cars without handbrakes - "yes, they stop your car rolling away, but you can always go out and buy bricks to put behind your tyres to do the same thing."

I hear Firefox is far better these days. Think I'll give that a go. Please e-mail me if you decide to bring back the gestures and bookmark function, I'd be happy give it another go.

What makes the video ads start automatically is auto-play, not auto-fullscreen.
Auto-fullscreen can still exist when you willingly press a video's play button.

Perhaps we talking about(agreeing too) the same thing but differently. I understand that if I click a play button of a video and then the video automatically starts full-screen is not a bad thing. This has its merit. But as the site loads, a nonsense video is set to auto-play, then auto-full screen is a serious problem. My problem is with the second scenario where auto-play videos starts auto-full screen.
So opera should not show an auto-play video full screen. Only show full screen if I click the video to play. I understand setting auto-play to videos is website developer's call but opera can help users to avoid this annoyance. Specifically, not allowing auto full screen on top of auto-play.

Pew,
If a website has embedded video, like even a small ad video, then it starts playing it full screen. This is definitely not desired. Pls revisit this. We don't need embedded videos to play in full screen automatically.
Pff, auto-fullscreen is very convenient.
They'd still waste bandwidth and play sound regardless. The problem is in auto-play, not in auto-fullscreen.

Auto full screen is definitely not convenient when you are not interested in the video but just checking the webpage. For example, this website bangla.bdnews24.com/. This has ad videos on the right side and when they play full screen, the entire site is not usable anymore. I simply don't understand why a video need to play full screen without user wanting to do so. A website is not all about videos and it has other contents. Why suddenly one content, like a video, need to take control of the entire screen.

The automatic full screen, is something we have added for convenience. We are aware of some problems connected with it -- and I really understand your frustration if it auto-starts in full screen from a background tab. That is definitely not intended behavior!

I have the same problem with videos autplay. I did put in the address www.gamersglobal.de for example and immediately a video started to play in full screen mode.
