  • Sorry, that was the wrong setting. That "wrong" setting worked because I was testing the older, non-broken version of Opera. The setting below fixes the current, latest version.

  • @thomasmca Got it. Complete & easy fix...much appreciated!

Unrelated: any idea where the "automatic emergency backup" is stored, or how users can designate their own location?

"Emergency" restore options don't work, & frequent manual backups are needed to avoid massive data loss.

    Thanks again!

  • @thomasmca Flags are not settings but temporary switches for developers (and users who want to test them) to turn on/off features in development.

  • @worksong Just remember that it's a temporary fix.

  • I just lost hundreds of tabs because this app [long sentence in all caps removed]. After Opera crashed, all of my tabs were gone. No worries, since I regularly create backups in the Session Manager app, right? Wrong! Session Manager doesn't know how to handle TreeTab Groups. I had 200+ tabs neatly organized into TT Groups, but Session Manager only restored about 35 of them from a single group.

TT stores its backups in the same place that every other extension stores its data: in encrypted database files. Although that makes Opera more secure than other browsers, it also makes it impossible for tech-savvy users to fix issues themselves. Ugh!

I had no idea that TT had its own Session Manager. Although I might start using that, I no longer trust session managers. Instead, I'll save/archive/backup my TT settings, history, and layout by backing up the entire Opera folder. In Windows, that's in %appdata%\Roaming\Opera Software. In Linux, that's in ~/.config/opera.

Really? All caps are edited? The entire point of my post is lost because of Big Brother. What bureaucrat thought that rule was a good idea? That's silly enough to make me stop giving feedback.

I just lost hundreds of tabs because this app is not compatible with Session Manager.

  • @thomasmca Thank you very much!

  • Hi! I can not imagine how you can work without vertical tabs.
Unfortunately all your the add-ons has stopped working
    Opera Version 66.0.3515.95
Could you do an update? Thanks!

  • TreeTabs2 is available here.

  • please fix the function that make the new tabs by click + button and open settings of browser or options of extensions become the child tabs of active tab, thanks.

  • @famicom9x: i mean than when i press crl + T the tab open as new normal tab not child tab of active tab, and extension options too.

  • I have lost all my workspace sessions. Ans other open tabs... Now I have to go over my head to try to restore all my tabs... Also, because the export doesn't work i have to find my lost tabs via complicated procedure using time machine and other steps...

And be aware, the Folder feature only works for the window. Once you close the window your folder withe the tabs is gone...

Think twice before installing this extension.

  • @EgorUk, please see the latest version on my blog, which I just released a few minutes ago.

I took over the development of TreeTabs because it has been abandoned by the original author. I have been struggling for a month or two to learn the code (and refresh my JavaScript knowledge) well enough to support it. I will be submitting TreeTabs2 to the Opera extension store soon.

During my testing, version 2.1.0 reliably saved and restored tabs within groups and folders. By “restore” I mean after a normal browser restart AND using the Import Session tool.

I even tested it using a session that I had saved months ago, and that was also restored correctly.

  • @thomasmca Thank you.

The question is would it save and restore Opera Workspaces?
Also, the installer doesn't work. Tried to a do a right click and open with Opera and it's not working.

    Please see the screenshot.

    Thank you!!

  • @EgorUk Sorry about that. Please try again.

No, it doesn't save Opera Workspaces. You can get similar functionality by using groups and folders in TT2. When you select a group in TT2, you only see the tabs in that group, just like in Workspaces. You can even hide a group in TT2 by right-clicking on it and selecting Hibernate. To bring it back, right-click on any remaining group, select Manager, then click the Load icon next to the group name.

  • @thomasmca Ok, thank you. But, unfortunately, I can not check anything as the extension installer doesn't work and you didn't say anything about it and how to install it to Opera. I even provided a screenshot. (see my previous reply)

    Thank you.
