      Hello forum,
i'm using latest Opera for Mac and this browser is great.
But one thing drives me nuts: i can't find options to save pictures in their original file format. Any picture gets converted to webp which then can only be viewed in Opera or Chrome, which does not my bill.
I already tried to tinker with the user agent, but this does not help the problem either.
Turbo mode as often recommended seems not to be a feature of the desktop browser?
Currently i always run a second browser for saving pictures, which is absurd a bit.
Installing that Chrome extension which adds the "save as png" option also is not an option for me.
Isn't there any other clean and "straight" option to simply configure/tweak this?

      Please!!!!
      Choice is king!

@leocg Hello, that is an interesting question, as it seemed to have not the same behaviour across all sites.
But from this link here i still can't save as jpg:

I already cleared caches and restarted the browser, but still...

@leocg Hello again. The fact that it worked partially told my guts feeling that there isn't s.th. well implemented at my end. Therefore i entirely removed the agent-switcher extension, cleared caches, restarted the browser, reenabled the agent-switcher, and bang: now it works consistently across all webpages i tested so far. So the agent-switcher still is a proper workaround.
Still it would be great, to make this choice an option of the browser, be it in it's configuration or as a "save" panel option.

But thank you very much for your quick response and willing to help!
              Best

I'm having this problem at the moment. If I go to the linked anandtech article and right click -> save image Opera offers to save as jpg (at least the few I tried). So different as for the OP.
If I go to https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1fHwISpXXXXXQaXXXq6xXFXXXQ/NEW-Original-Remote-Control-for-GRUNDIG-3D-TV-Remote-TP7187R-3-Fernbedienung.jpg and try to townload or drag and drop the image it turns into a webp. Even though the url says jpg.
This behaviour doesn't change no matter what I select in the user agent switcher (this one)

I just tried saving the first picture on the page by dragging it onto the desktop, and it was saved as .jpg. How are you saving images? I have found it convenient to download pictures by drag and drop, so I do that most of the time.
The only time I do not do that is if I want to save a caption with the picture, then I do a screen capture (which gets saved as .png).
