Creating a new Opera bookmark

Simple q but I can't find answer!: how in hell do you use the 'heart' button on the top of a website, to ADD the site to one's bookmarks?
I can't seem to do this for the life of me! Not as easy to do as with Google Chrome or Firefox, that's for sure! -

I've done it many times....looks straight-forward, but....
it opens a 'new folder' under my existing bookmark name. Then, after closing and opening my bookmarks, the 'new' bookmark is nowhere to be seen! -

I have bookmark links on the top of my browser when Opera is open...opposite the 'search' icon on the opening page. One bookmark is actually called BOOKMARKS, and I use it AFTER I click on the 'heart' icon when I'm at the new site I want to bookmark. Then it asks for a 'new folder', I do so...and there's nothing at that folder when I go back and look at the BOOKMARKS on my opening page.
I know I'm doing something wrong, but it's so much easier using GOOGLE CHROME or FIREFOX to accomplish this, rather than OPERA, which is my favourite browser. -

But by doing that, will it not reside on the BOOKMARKS bar page ONLY?
