White screen 'flashbang' when opening pages

@Pebbles1980, did you try a portable version, as I mentioned before? Just in case there is something specific to your profile that could be the culprit.
If I have open Youtube (dark theme) and steampowered, and then open a new tab (speed dial with dark background), I have no white flashing. -

I just downloaded GX portable, and being in a dark page and having a dark speed dial with both versions (my theme, and all default in the GX version), I can only get a white flash when I press Ctrl F12 to open the settings. Opening another speed dial or a page, has no white flash here.
For example, if you are at https://www.escapefromtarkov.com, and click on Support (opens in same tab) or Wiki (opens in new tab), do you get that white flash? It doesn't happen to me with either version. -

No doing that particular move doesnt reproduce the flash. Opening any page from my speed dial does. Does not matter if its a dark theme or not.
So I have dark theme on, dark theme on any page I can. So its dark, I open facebook from speed dial, white flashbang, then goes back to dark. -

I added the pages you mentioned to the speed dial, and this is how it behaves here with a just-installed portable GX:

@alobpreis In your case it really works as it should.
Maybe Win version plays the role here too. I use Win 8.1 (which doesn't have a system dark theme). I had in 66 or 67 (I don't remember) the similar result as yours, but in 68 I see a white flash while opening SD tiles. -

@Pebbles1980 as you can see on his demo, when he clicks on a tile there is a small delay (loading circle is spinning) before page appears. In your case (and in my too) the page is trying to load instantly and the white flashbangs occurs.
I believe that during this short delay the flashbang happens too, but it happens somewhere in the background and not visible. -

Well I sure you can see how annoying it is for me, there must be a fix for it.

@Pebbles1980 Hi, the only fix I was able to find:
Go to opera://flags find "#enable-paint-holding" there. Switch the toggle to "Enabled" and it will partially solve the problem, not completely though... -

Thanks Challenger, Ill try that.
Hopefully there is a proper fix shortly. Would be nice to see a Dev here saying they know about it, and are working on a official fix! -

@andrew84 That's weird. In my case it was disabled and I've never touched it before.

@ChallengerUS said in Flashbang while loading page:
@andrew84 That's weird. In my case it was disabled and I've never touched it before.
In both regular Opera and portable Opera GX I have that setting in Default [E], therefore enabled. Anyway, neither setting it to Enabled or Disabled avoided the flash I get when pressing Ctrl-F12 to open the settings.

I also tried GX portable and the result is the same. I have Win8.1x64 and this could be a reason, but both of you have Win10 and the results are different. So the issue is not OS dependent.

Has there been any solution for this? No other browser has this issue. Google Chrome, Brave, Edge Chromium, Firefox, all have found some workaround to this. @Pebbles1980 did you find a solution? This is very very annoying and genuinely hurting eyesight when working late into the night.

HI mate,
Funny you post this, as I looked again yesterday to find nothing. Its still unnecessarily annoying. Can we please have confirmation that a Developer is looking into this?
