        Still an issue on 77.0.4054.172.

But with the VPN gone, there is no reason for me to stick to Opera. Just migrated to Vivaldi. So long, and thanks for all the fish.

As the original poster of this topic two years ago it is very disappointing that after all this time the same issues remain.
If Opera developers don't think there is a problem how come other chrome browsers in my experience don't have the same issue, for example Edge and Vivaldi ?
Every few months I instal Opera to see if anything has changed but its getting depressing. My other gripe with Opera is manually instigating an update when I am greeted by the message "an error has occurred" until after several attempts I finally get the browser to update. This is not a problem with other Chromium browsers, so why Opera ?
You would think that the developers would do everything possible to make the browser a pleasure to use rather than make users consider moving elsewhere ,even if it is only a temporary move.

I'm still experiencing the same problem without any working solution for this problem. Periodically, I make backup of the file "C:\Users\XXXXXXXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Cookies" and restore it in the case of this problem.

Around multi week prior I have chosen an extreme test: to uninstall an Opera program completely, to clean any follows off of this program and afterward reinstall it from the scratch once more. Sadly, presently I can express, the issue is as yet present on the most recent adaptations of Opera (right now I'm utilizing 68.0.3618.63 on Windows 7 x64 i7 machine) 👈 .

The testing is very irritating, on the grounds that this issue happens simply in certain events. I can't discover any reasons and hints about it. Now and then even I don't get a "Profile Error Occurred/Your inclinations records can't be perused. A few provisions might be inaccessible and changes to settings will not be saved" message, however some setup is all things considered lost.

For my situation every one of the settings of the Opera program are appropriately saved/reestablished, all open tabs are appropriately saved/reestablished also, yet I'm losing all login (dynamic meetings) information and settings of the individual Web-Sites. It appears as though clearing all Cookies, yet I do affirm - the switch named as "Clear treats and site information when you quit Opera" is consistently OFF in my program.

The last few times that the error has been shown, cookies were not deleted.
Whenever I wait a few minutes from Windows startup to start Opera, the error does not occur.

I just did some testing and some research. Same solution as the same error on Google Chrome.

The problem comes back after a while so developers please do something.

Not sure if its temporary or permanent solution but it worked for me

                      Steps:

                      1. Close all Opera GX related processes.
                      2. Go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable.
                      3. Copy and Paste "Webdata" and "Webdata-journal" somewhere and keep it safe.
                      4. Delete "Webdata" and "Webdata-journal".
                      5. See for yourself.
                      6. If it doesn't work, return "Webdata" and "Webdata-journal".

                      Side effects:

                      • My search engine returned to Google

                      • Extensions removed

Every time I open Opera, appears a message saying that a profile error occurred, and then I lose all my logins from my social media. It's really awful need to log in again, again and again.

Does someone know how to resolve it? Thx!

Once Opera is up and running (after you get past the error), goto the URL opera://about and take note of the "profile" path. Then, close Opera and rename the profile folder from "Opera Stable" to "Opera Stable old". Then, when Opera starts up, it should be like a new Opera.

If you still get the error with the new profile folder, right-click the profile folder, goto security and check that your user account has full read and write access to all files and folders in the folder. Also, make sure nothing is set to read-only on the general tab.

It is a bug that has not been fixed for more than 2 years.

In this thread "Profile Error Occurred" - Message On Opera Startup it has been explained in detail and the only solution is to keep a backup copy of the Cookies files.

Opera 80 and still the same problem. Today with deletion of cookies. Annoying.

As the original poster of this problem over 2 years ago it is a pity that it hasn't been sorrted out yet. People expect a browser to work properly or a full explanation as to why the problem occurs. Also users should not be expected to try and sort the matter out, it is up to Opera to do this. I experiment with Opera on an occasional basis but its not going to be my main browser whilst this problem still occurs. My main browser is another chromium browser with huge backing and I suppose the moderator would not want me to mention it. Suffice to say I have had no problems with spurious messages with this other browser etc and as Opera is built on Chromium the problem is clearly with them.

                                  Hello,Mike:
I just had my I-Mac RAM upgraded by a computer tech from 1GB to 3GB.Opera attempts to load in but at the last moment it still crashes and I still get the same error message. It is Opera 25 for Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8.
If more RAM doesn't solve the problem,it must be on their end.I read that Opera does need at least 2GB RAM,but it was working fine even on 1GB.In any case the RAM upgrade did help tremendously.
