Opera 15 is a DISASTER

A little bit crazy? Ya think? What they should have done, is still promoted 12.16 as the primary download, but *also* offered the "developing" version 15 as an alternative. As it is, all they are doing is essentially fooling people into downloading the latest feature-incomplete version, which leads to misgivings and bad feelings towards Opera. When I downloaded this onto a customers computer, and saw the massive changes made, I was completely shocked and dismayed. I had no clue what was going on, only that it was no longer the Opera I knew. They way they are handling this rollout is a debacle, and is the primary reason why there is so much backlash.

i have no idea why they do that.
but Opera is a Company, every decision must be not a single person decision.
it seems they also ready with the risk.cant do anything with that.

Opera 15 is more usable then Opera 12. Opera 12 seems to crash more offen then other browsers and it would slow down sometimes for no apparently reason. After using Opera for over 15 years, I actually stopped using Opera 12 as my primary browser.

Needs to be "Adopted Son of Opera". 15 has no relation to its parent except in name.

Pointless? If so, why is it attracting so much attention?

It is just another "i am (almost) one month late, lost the timming of the discussion and didn't update myself about it but want to post my rant/mimimi about Opera 15."
There were some of them since the end of July, beginning of August maybe because of the vacations.

Opera 15 is just as much of a piece of shit now as it was back then, so why wouldn't you expect people to still hate it?

The basic thing here is that Opera have decided to become a different company with a different product that appeals to different people. That's a valid business decision. I for one think it is a wrong business decision, but time will tell.
Opera was a niche product. It always was. But there is nothing wrong with niche products. It might be nice to dream of being the dominant mass market product, but it seems unlikely that Opera will be able to dislodge Google from their current hegemony. The only time a browser has done something like it was Firefox, and that was driven by a huge "anti-Microsoft" animus.
So, the old Opera was feature rich. Nearly every fan had a different set of features that they use, and consider "essential" to their own workflow (or "playflow"). For me, one of those features is tabs on the sidebar. When I discovered that, it was a revelation and I cannot bear the thought of going back to tabs crammed into the top of the screen. But because "most" people don't use this, Opera have dropped it and I daresay it won't be back, not just to please a few thousands like me.
But, other people had other "must have" features, and they too are lost. Everyone who appreciated Opera for the reason it was Opera has no reason to use the new product, which is entirely different.
I was utterly appalled when I tried the new Opera to find how primitive it is; I had explored it all in less than five minutes, and even ignoring the ghastly huge Google search that can't be got rid of (I too use Bing mostly) it was clear that this was not the product for me.
So really, I'm just sad at what has happened. No browser now offers the features I have come to rely on. Very disappointed.

Just change the name and the symbol. I never liked this 'flavour' of Opera. What about Oasis?
Btw, no rocker navigation in 15? Thats a No-Go

leushino, it appears that you're the only one who "sees the whole picture".
you should stop repeating the same things all the time.

Opera 16 & 17 are both crap too.
You can hope that Opera developers will somehow get it right eventually.
You might be waiting til' Opera v100 in that case.

To even think that you can push out a version so dumbed down and incomplete that it doesn't even have BOOKMARKS (never mind having no menus), is a grave mistake, because it makes people believe that it's not important and that Opera is just going to be a sub-brand of Chrome. I shudder just thinking about it.
I'm going to say to you developers the same things I've suggested to Microsoft's devs: FIX THE DAMN CODE so that it works with most sites like Firefox does, BUT DON'T MESS WITH THE FEATURES AND UI!!!
Wait a minute... Is it just me or doesn't it seem like Opera just hired the Windows 8 team that Microsoft recently fired?
Hmmm!

Wow...I read that then I closed the tab and tried CTRL+Z to undo it. Guess what? That's missing! WTFFFFFFF Opera? You'd better have a fire under your ass to fix all this broken crap. Stash is stupid too. What in the world are you doing to this browser?

Definitely agree with the sentiment that this Opera should be spun off as another product. Bring back the old UI as "Opera" and if you want to play around with this abomination of source code, call it something else. Or open-source the old Opera so we have a fighting chance of keeping the real Opera alive.

If that's the future of Opera then I'm off back to Firefox.
I tried version 15 a few days ago and just about INSTANTLY uninstalled that crap thing! Sure am glad it didn't or I didn't install it over the top of my current version. Didn't wreck anything uninstalling version 15!
With the amount of stuff that is missing, Opera will be up to version 45, before it's back to be good again!

Just discovered that Opera Mobile v15 has appeared on my Android. No bookmarks. I haven't looked to see what else it's missing, and I'm not going to. It's slower than the previous version. It goes as soon as I can find a way to get back to the previous version of Opera Mobile. And if I can't do that, I'll use the browser that comes with Jelly Bean. Ugh.
