The new Beta (62.0.3331.5) seems to have a serious runaway memory (or leak) problem:

Could reproduce this several times by just surfing this forum in a single tab for a couple of minutes, and no extensions except the default ad-blocker.

The release version (60.0.3255.141) runs fine.

      macOS 10.14.5

@tflo It's mentioned as a known issue in the release post.

@leocg, thanks for your reply. Any link to that release post?

          In case you mean this:

          Known issue:

          [Mac] Memory leak from gmail
Please report if you encounter any memory consumption issues using Gmail. We are currently investigating the issue.

          I don't use Gmail.

@tflo It's probably not only related to Gmail.

I've seen the leak three or four times more yesterday, while in Opera Beta or Dev. Apparently not related to the content of the page, but I might be wrong here. Before that I thought it had to do with Discourse, but it happened also on other pages, even with only "opera:sync-internals" open.

But it is definitely not related to Gmail.

Anyway, I don't care much anymore. In the meantime Opera exposed so many other technical problems and design problems that I moved on to Vivaldi. This thing is felt 50× better than Opera and might be a worthy candidate for my future default browser. (Well, currently it already is my default browser, but still on a trial level.)

Nevertheless many thanks for your replies and support efforts, @leocg

              Bye
