I've had this issue when I was connecting to my pocket wifi after installing the pocket wifi's utility software.
Did you recently install any program that is relevant to your wifi? Or does this happen with any wifi?
If you did so, this may be the cause. Try uninstalling the program and see if that helps, you might still be able to connect to the wifi without the program.
If it still opens - there are some remnants of instructions that's telling something to open the default browser when connected to this wifi. I can't help you here, as this was where I got stuck last time. I ended up just ignoring it over time.

Huh, my scenario was different to this - it would load up a link to my pocket wifi's web management page. Maybe whatever opening it is using a link that does not show up in the address bar? I'm not sure how to check that.

@athumithum Check your router and/or OS to see if there isn't any setting to automatically open the browser when WiFi connects.
