Where did they go?
Go to Help > About Opera and copy the path listed Profile. You can open that location in File Explorer and see if there seems to be something wrong there - also look at the path itself and see if it is strange. Some Windows errors can result in your username changing - if that looks correct look for files using the name Bookmarks in that folder.
