Helping vs Closing Threads

So my thread was closed because the mod says I didn't do a search. Well, I did. And found no answers. But some near flame wars.
Doing a search for the questions I asked doesn't turn up information. Sure, mod, you can point to threads that argue about it. But for Opera Next, having now spent hours in the fruitless task that your more sadistic side insisted I revisit, I have determined that Opera Next really did remove the functionality, that the pointers in threads in how to re-enable parts of it really don't work, that when that's been pointed out those threads too are closed rather than the falsehood corrected, and that the only way to get close to what I consider minimal functionality is to rely on unsupported third-party extensions.
Closing the thread to avoid having to say, "No, that functionality really has been removed" seems a bit like controlling the message rather than the style.

The thread was that one. Reopening it and continue the talk there seems to be the most appropriate thing to do for now. Check my new post there.
