Is there any way to restore this way of minimizing active tab? It was the main reason I stuck to Opera all these years rather than switching to Firefox. Can't see any good reason why it's been taken out. Besides this, the latest version is very fluid and stable.

      Thanks,

      spahis

Taken out? It is optional in the 12.x versions, but Opera 15+ is a different system completely so "taken out" is the wrong word. "Not added in" would be better. And yes, I used it all the time myself - it was one of several features that are part of MDI, some of which (child windows inside the application) are not possible in Chromium.

I'd been using some 12.x version until recently. I had to switch to the latest 21.0 release, due to unstability and general jerkiness of 12. Suppose that was the exact reason I stuck to the old version in the beginning, lol. No luck then, it seems. Bummer.

I fail to see how that would be useful. Instead of minimizing a tab, why not simply switching to another one?
Minimizing makes no sense, not even in the context of windows in an operating system and much less in a browser where the list of tabs is always visible ready for you to click on another tab to put it in the front, just bring something else to the top.

I never needed the minimize part of it, but left-clicking the active tab to focus the previously-active tab (where doing it again will focus the previously-active tab before that etc.) was one of my favorite features in Opera 12. This is probably my #1 wish for the new Opera.

This is already solved by Ctrl+F1 then, or the tab cycling experiment in opera:flags which enables tab switching in recently used order.

With those 2 together, it kind of works as expected. But, that only works if you hold down ctrl and hit f1 multiple times. If you hit ctrl + f1 and release and then hit ctrl + f1 again and release etc., it'll just cycle between two tabs.

But, even if that all works perfectly (as in, as how Opera 12 does it with left-clicking on a tab), it's not "solved" if it doesn't work with left-click on a tab. Thanks for the tip though.
