Start page / Speed dial

After 15 years I have come back to Opera and so far I'm loving it except for a couple of quirks. The one that bothers me the most is when I first load Opera a fresh start page opens up with it.
In settings I have it set so that opera opens my old tabs. I make sure there are no start page/speed dial tabs open before I close the browser down, yet when I reopen the browser there is the start page tab again. How do I turn off this irritating behavior that no other browser does?

@vux777 OMG i feel so dumb now and also thank you very much!
Maybe you can also help me with the only other problem I have with opera? Is there a way for me to automatically sync open tabs between two different computers? Like, if I open a tab on computer A it will also open that same tab on computer B? -

you can enable sync (it's standard Opera feature in settings) and in it, there is Open tabs option
but tabs won't auto-open on other devicesyou need to click on arrow on top right corner and choose them from Other devices list

Well that's a bummer.
Ok how about this one: I open a tab on computer A and browse around. I then open the same tab on computer B using the other devices drop down arrow and again browse around. When I go back to computer A, the tabs are not sync'd. Is this working as intended? Do I have to select from the other devices arrow drop down every time I want to view what the other computer tab was browsing? Why even call it sync'd tabs when it clearly is just a history list if so?

@dotjun
honestly, I don't know if this is default behavior or not
I'm not using tabs sync at all
I would guess that only list is updated...nothing else (no auto-anything)
