Opera opens 9 sessions every time I open it, why? I only need one and it slows down the computer.
Also auto-update cannot be switched off, why?

Goto the URL
opera://about
and take note of the "install" location. Close down Opera and go into the install location. You'll see one more more version folders. Go into the folder for the newest version and rename opera_autoupdater.exe to offopera_autoupdater.exe for example.Just note that this will break "check for updates" too. You'll have to monitor opera.com or https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/ for when there's a new update. The latter has a feed you can subscribe to if you want.

They're called "processes". Opera is based on Chromium and that's how Chromium works. Everything (pages, sites in pages, plugins, extensions, gpu process etc) are separated into different processes for security and stability.
There's Chromium command-line switch that disables all that. But, it no longer works properly (in Opera at least) and breaks everything. In other words, there's nothing you can do about all the processes.
