I'm trying to manually edit the Preferences file in Opera's Profile folder using JSONedit, to change an extension's keyboard shortcut to Global (which used to allow me to activate the shortcut while the extension button is hidden from toolbar).

I'm closing Opera using the menu (Exit) before opening the file, and I tried also editing the backup file. But it keeps overwriting my manual edit.

      Am I doing something wrong?

(Also would love a bug fix for this anyway, extension keyboard shortcuts don't always work when the button is hidden.)

Maybe the file is protected so when a unauthorized change is detected, it reverts to a previous or original state?

@leocg Hmm it only reverts after I open Opera. If I open the file after saving and before opening Opera it's still in its updated state.
If it still could be protected, do you know how to un-protect it? Its 'owner' is Users and I have Full Control if that helps.

I guess the file can only be modified by Opera. When it checks the file and detects the change, the file is reset.

@leocg I've read a number of posts that talk about modifying this preferences file so it must be possible somehow.
It's not that important though but I'm assuming I'm missing something.
