The last version of Opera with built-in email in Linux was Opera 12.16. Keep in mind, "built in email" is only a mail client - you would need to have a mail server to have an actual email address. Though a mail client can connect to gmail's server so that you keep the same address but read mail on your computer instead of in the Gmail webmail. But as you can guess, Opera 12.16 is ancient and probably can't communicate with Gmail anyway ...
There are a number of other mail clients in Linux, and if you really do want to get away from gmail there are any number of free email services you can use instead.

Ive used Thunderbird to check my Gmail (and other email addys) for what seems like forever. I love it, and love having it setup for IMAP as I check email on several different devices. Also, being able to integrate my Google calendar into "Lightning" with Thunderbird, makes it that much more appealing to me.

As said above, the last opera version that did have a mail client built-in was 12.16. It has not been updated 5+ years and today it is as obsolete as internet explorer, because it has many issues with most sites.
I also doubt it it is installable at all, because of its prehistoric dependencies (gstreamer 0.10 and the like). There also was opera mail, a windows and macos app that never came to linux and never got updated past version 1.0, so that is obsolete too.
