If I access an image anywhere on the internet, facebook, etc.. right click and “Save image as”...nothing happens. No save box to enter title appears, all other functions lock up - I cant back out, engage other tabs or programs. I have to engage Task Manager and end task.

“Copy Image” function works. Can paste into Word and “Save as picture” from there. But that’s inconvenient and adds steps.

Likewise, I cannot download any files from any sources. The file transfer never starts - a green and white horizontal “barberpole” progress graphic appears and continues. I have tried waiting to see if a transfer starts but it never does.

I have had to install Internet Explorer 11 in order to get functionality, but I do not like relying on IE. Saving files and performing downloads work as they should using IE.

I have run virus scans from two sources as well as a malware scan. No issues were found. I like Opera and would hate to have to give it up. Any help is appreciated. JIM

We had someone with this issue last week - going into Settings and confirming the download directory fixed it for him.

Thanks sgunhouse. I accessed the download path in settings. Everything looked OK but when I set up another directory and tried to enter that path in settings, opera locked up on me when I hit [Change] button. Had to engage task manager and close Opera. Baffling. And I can't figure why IE 11 works perfectly with downloads and "Save As" and Opera doesn't.

@jimbf In Opera, goto the URL opera://about and take note of the profile path. Then, close Opera and load up the "Preferences" file (it's in the profile folder) in JSONedit. Once the file is loaded, look under root/download. What do you see there (names and values)?
