Transferring old Opera bookmarks to new Opera installation

I recently re-installed Opera 36 (last version that works with my Vista OS). I can see the Bookmark file in Opera profile folder, but the bookmarks don't open in the browser. I'ved tried to import them using the browser's integrated app, but my Bookmark file is not HTML (or .adr), so it doesn't copy over.
How can I transfer the Bookmark files? They are backed up from my previous Opera 36 install. Thanks very much.

I copied over all the old Opera 36 files, including the launcher, but it's not recognizing the Bookmark file. The Profile folder is Opera Stable, correct? The launcher etc. under that folder is ignoring the Bookmarks. How can I get it to recognize it?

I'm sorry, I don't understand. My Opera Stable (profile folder) is currently under Users\Ginevra\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera Stable. This contains the Bookmarks file (I think it's .json) and all the other Opera files. They are all together. Why isn't the browser recognizing its own file?

The backed up file is already in the profile folder, but it won't recognize it.
As a (torturous) solution, I uninstalled Opera 36, while saving the Bookmark.json file to my desktop. I then reinstalled Opera. Then I tried opening the Boomark file; an Explorer box popped up asking what program I'd like to use to open it. I chose Opera, which opened a tab where the contents of the .json file were dumped in an html table. I scrolled through and copied all the urls, opened them, and then added them to Bookmarks.
Never again, though.
Thanks for your help.
