  • I've got 8 tabs open, 6 extensions running... and 20 Opera processes
    I assume that at least 1 is just base Opera functionality, but that still leaves at most 5 processes I don't know the reason for. It's also eating a GB of RAM with nothing actively happening in any of the open tabs.
    Is this at all normal? Is there anything I can do to cut down the RAM usage aside from just disabling extensions or closing the tabs?

  • Shift + ESC in Opera might be revealing.

  • Yes, it's normal. One for each extension, one for each tab, one for the browser itself, one for the GPU process, some background services.

    Opera's task manager, mentioned above, is the best place to know what are those processes.

  • That said I, the fact that it's using 350mb of RAM for the GPU with only this tab open is a little disconcerting.
