Well, with the 'Phone' layout selected in 'Setting' it give you the maximum viewing area, plus when you scroll down a page (swipe up) the top tool bar scrolls up the page too, thus giving you a full-screen viewing area for web content.

Well, what UI elements are visible on-screen when using the 'Phone' layout ?. I don't see any, apart from the tool bar just after the page loads and just before scrolling the page. Looks like full-screen to me, even though it doesn't have a labelled menu/settings item/option labelled as such.

I never saw an app that could hide the notification bar.

But the point is: it is allowed by the OS?

Older Presto versions of Opera Mobile go completely full screen and do hide the notification bar.

On Android? I know it is/was possible on other OSs.

Yep full screen (no notification bar) on Android. Opera 12.10 Presto (Classic).

There is any setting to active it? I have Opera Classic on my Android and it shows the notification bar.

Yes, in settings, turn off 'Status bar'. But you can still view/access the status/notification bar by doing a quick swipe down from the top of the screen.

                                            Ok, but not by default.

Nothing against but i prefer the "normal" mode.
