Stopping Automatic Updates In Standalone Version of Opera ?

One of the good things about Opera is it can be installed in one folder on the C drive with other folders inside it. So when rare problems occur I delete the main Opera folder and start again. The "opera_autoupdate.exe" service runs frequently . I found the autoupdate .exe in the Opera version folder within the main Opera folder. I do not want Opera to check for updates EVER as I check manually and I don't like the .exe appearing several times a day. Most if not all the other major browsers have a toggle to switch automatic updates on and off but Opera doesn't seem to have one. Can someone explain to me how this can be accomplished safely ? Incidentally with each new version of Opera I get another opera_autoupdate.exe so just deleting the file is not going to stop it. Does Opera have hidden settings that will do what I want ?

Further to my recent posts I have relented and have set Opera to check for updates automatically, the latest version appears to be 53.0.2907.110.
