Since a little while opera does not start anymore on my laptop.
After executingrm -rf .cache/opera .config/opera
I can start it up again but after I close it and restart it the process seems to hang. Only after executing the rm command again will it start again.
I have tried with adpkg --purge opera-stable
and then re-installing but the problem persists.
The only thing I see on the console is$ opera ATTENTION: default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment. Gkr-Message: secret service operation failed: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files Gkr-Message: secret service operation failed: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files [16043:16043:0621/102001.370367:ERROR:partner_content_service.cc(1251)] Not an update at all. Some info about my system:
- Linux Mint 18.3 (fully up to date)

Hello,
FYI I found and fixed the issue. Due to some issue with my git client I had removed the gnome-keyring package from my system. Reinstalling this package fixed opera.
Perhaps the deb package should add this as a dependency or issue a warning about the absence of the package?

OK, maybe not only on gnome-keyring but something like this maybe
if not gnome-keyring and not kwallet and not ... issue warning to user
