Opera 53.0 not saving history and current tabs

I upgraded to 53.0 yesterday, and now every time I shut down opera it deletes my browsing history, and does NOT 'start where I left off' despite the settings, which I have checked:

"continue where I left off" is checked

I cannot find any tickboxes that AVOID deleted history, only ones that enable it and they are unchecked.

Any help/suggestions?

There's also this annoying side bar I can't get rid of, but that's the least of my problems.

What version u had before?

What kind of sidebar? (right-click it for options...)

@sawyer Something may be preventing Opera from saving your data or is removing it.
