Appeared this search in version 52.0.2871.97 (icon-magnifying glass), the default is Yandex, in the settings you can change the search engine only to search from the combined address bar

@sashaloki Instant search seems to use the same search engine used on start page and there is no way to change it.
You can try change the country code in 'local state' file to try to get Google instead of Yandex.

Omnibox (API) functionality can be changed, but OPR doesn't allow those addons to the Addons Gallery that edit forced defaults.

Hmm. CWS has one extension that changes default Google functionality and it works but it's nowhere near as ideal as it could be, and one can code for urself 🙂 if that's a possibility.

One roundabout shortcut comes to mind but it wont be quick: get Web Panel addon and do your searches on the web panel. One can add whatever search engine~ Latest version check Github if you will.
