Turn off auto update opera 49.

Hello all. I've been using opera 49 for a couple of months, all good. today, for some reason, Opera auto updates in the background to the latest Opera 51. I can't use Opera 51, as I'm still running OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks. 49 is the latest it supports. When I quit Opera, I can't use it as it has already updated to v51. I delete v51, reinstall 49, but then it auto updates again to 51, and I'm locked out again.
Is there any way to turnoff this auto update ? Opera is simply unusable for me at the moment.
Thank you

@boristhebeetle There is problem with our autoupdate server which started to serve new version to unsupported systems on macOS. To work around this please run following command in console: "defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate true". You can download last version for OSX 10.9 here: https://ftp.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/49.0.2725.64/mac/
Sorry for this inconvenience. -

Thank you mgeffro. I found another way. I don't know if it's a good way or not -
- control click the Opera icon in the applications folder. This brings up a menu - near the top, click on "show package contents". It shows a folder called contents. Open this folder. Open the folder called "versions". Then open the folder with the version number. Then open the Opera framework folder. Then the helpers folder. Then delete the autoupdate file. I can't remember the name. But it's obvious which one it is.
There are also 2 files I deleted in the MacOS folder, which are under the Contents folder I referred to above. The autoupdate and updateinstall files. I don't remember the exact names, as I did all this yesterday.
Thank you.
