Hi there, I'm running into issues with Opera where the browser crashes when I open a new tab—not every time but often enough that it's a major pain. Additionally, when a tab has been open for a period of time, especially in a separate window, a white block appears below the end of the tab. Loading up developer tools shows that the block is not a part of the page.

An example of the white block below:

And a screenshot with Developer Tools to better highlight the gap:

      I'm on 51.0.2830.55, using Mac OS X 10.12.6.

@ernie I am also experiencing excessive but inconsistent (around 2 out of 3 attempts) crashing on opening of a New Tab in the discussed version (51.0.2830.55). I think this is related to the latest "stable" build as everything was working fine in the previous version and the problem started happening after the most recent update (few hours ago). I have started a separate thread discussing my problem but I thought I will let you know that you are not alone where crashing is concerned...

Your second screenshot shows the Developer Tools at the bottom of the page. You can turn that off.

@concretable I literally said in my comment that I turned on developer tools to make the gap more obvious.

Hi, we've released an update that should fix the crashers: http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2018/03/opera-51-0-2830-62-macos-stable-update/

@avl I'll keep you posted on the crashing but I am still seeing the white bar issue with the new version.

Want to make one addition to this. I've yet to crash since the update, but the white bar issue still lingers. Of note, the issue seems to worsen when a window is fullscreen and is not used for a while. I left this tab open for about two hours, and here's how it looked when I got back to it:

(Note: As I stated earlier in the thread, I've turned on developer tools when taking these screenshots to make the white space gap more apparent, as it's hard to notice with just a screenshot on its own.)

Hi @ernie, does the white block disappear if you reload the page? What about hiding, then restoring the window?

@avl It does not disappear when I reload, nor does it disappear when I take the window off full screen or minimize it. But when I switch tabs and go back to the tab in the same window, it disappears.

Adding for posterity @avl that it appears that when a window's open for a while, even if the white bar does not appear (because I'm actively using that window), the display will become off-calibration with what's on the page, forcing me to move my cursor below where the link actually is to click on the link. The behavior fixes itself if I switch tabs.

I assume the problems are related.
