I am using windows 7. Opera worked fine until the most recent windows update. I have uninstalled/reinstalled both Opera and now Opera Beta but with similar results. Most of the time I get an error window "Opera Internet Browser has stopped working" and Opera closes. Occasionally, like now, everything works fine. Chrome and IE continue to work fine. Any help is appreciated.

@gbpc Did you try with a clean profile directory? If you are using an anti-virus, did you try with it disabled?

Hi everyone, I've managed to fix this on my Windows 10 computer. I hope it will work for you too.

              • 1. Disable all the plugins
use CCleaner, go to Tools > Browser Plugins > Opera to disable them

              • 2a. Restart Windows in Safe Mode
keep the Shift key pressed, while clicking on Restart

              • 2b. Press 4 to start Windows in Safe Mode

              • 3. Open Opera and close the last opened tabs
and the ones you don't care about, or just close all of them to be safe
(it might be possible to skip this step)

              • 4. Close Opera and restart your computer
