sidebar and extension bar merging

Hello,

Is there a way to merge these bars together? there is no need for them to take up so much real estate and I don't see myself adding more features anytime soon.

@kruch We have been asking this for 6 months!
I can't believe that there wasn't even a plan to merge them!

Few months ago they said they have this issue on table...
