VPN to specific country

Opera is awesome for its free built in VPN
And until a couple of weeks of go, when I turned it on, I could set it to a specific country, America, Canada, or anywhere else.
But suddenly, it only gives me the option of Americas, Europe or Asia. Not country just regions.
Well sites in America that require the user to be IN America used to allow me in when I set VPN to America. But they will NOT let me see content with the VPN set to "Americas".
Long intro to the question...WHY did the VPN change?
and how do I get it BACK to specific country settings??(FYI, I AM American, but I am living in Japan. And it annoys the hell out of me that American sites block me just because I am out of country)
