I don't like the Opera homepage even after I remove the boxes.

Can I replace that 4 box icon with a house and have it go to Google?

I've searched the web and this forum to no avail. I think I don't know the correct terms to search on.

      I appreciate any help.

Maybe you can change the page with an extension - probably from the Chrome Store -.

About the icon, don't think so...

But the seach box without the SpeedDial looks nice too.

@chuchkyschild There is no home button in Opera. In fact Opera doesn't even allow you to set a home page.

want to try agan? in opera the button has 4 squares representing speed dials. in chrome the button is a house which when clicked takes you to chromes apps page, or whatever page you have assigned to it. as far as i can see opera repurposed the apps page for speed dials and removed the ability to reassign the button.

                  That's not totally true. 馃懠馃徑

In Settings>On startup you can define a set of one or more pages to be loaded. If the feature Continue where I left off does not suit you, it may be a workaround

Else you have the Homepage extension which adds a button for that.

So it can't be done. "Open Page on Startup" only does that at startup. When I click the little boxes I go to their "homepage". Homepage Extension only works for new tabs.

I think this is a deal breaker for me. As much as I've found to like about Opera I'm an old guy and set in my ways. That "homepage" is not to my liking. Not at all. Getting to my email, maps, calendar, etc are the things I do on my homepage. Opera essentially denies my ability to do that w/o a hassle. I have enough hassles already.

Thanks everyone for the help. It is always appreciated.

@chuchkyschild What Chrome's UI has to with Opera's one? Opera has its own UI.

@mmichel You can set a page or a bunch of pages that will open when Opera starts but you can't set a home page.

opera is based off of chrome, all opera is is a modified CHROME. try again.

that page or pages are your start pages. that setting has nothing to do with what is the speed dial / home button in opera, i'll checkout the extension you linked to.
