Close tabs to the left

@rejzor said in Close tabs to the left:
Why is it automatically assumed one would only want to close all the tabs to the right from current tab? I've often came to a point where I had tons of tabs open, but I wanted to close them to the left of currently active tab. Why is this not an option available to the user?
When is this useful? When you for example open several image galleries and bunch of individual images from each of these galleries. But then you want to close all the tabs with galleries that remained on the left and only leave opened images on the right, because you only need images in the end. Currently, this is not possible because "Close tabs to the left" doesn't exist as a function.
It's really strange this is not a feature yet. We need to close the tabs to the left just as often as we do to the right.

@rejzor yes, you were able to do this with the old Tab Mix Plus in Firefox and it's something I miss in that browser.

There are opera extensions, but I prefer those one with better icon:
- Close others tabs: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/close-others/jlkpafdhmdhiahnmcmjejmlidghcobeb
- Close tabs to the right: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/close-right/npemobdkdcknhfaiioheeffincgpgafj

Why is this isn't done yet??
US+EU people process stuff from left to right, and we want to discard stuff on left side. This worked great in Opera 12..

@johnren I have several other browsers installed on my desktop - Edge, Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi. Only Vivaldi has "close tabs to the left" unfortunately. I don't have Firefox to check that but I bet it's the same.

@newworldman Looks like most browsers are built for Hebrews, who read from right to left, and close tabs on the right..

@mrx23dot Interesting how they've all gone lockstep on this except for Vivaldi!

@newworldman I think they simply copy each other (or code base), firefox has both, but they are in a submenu..
