A couple of days ago, my google searches started to look weird... When I manually switched to google.com everything returned to normal, but... I can't edit default search engine from google.pl to google.com in Opera! So I created a custom one, but I can not set it as default.... It is really ridiculous!
Now I have to manually switch to google.com page to see proper search results... -

You can change the country setting in Opera. But not with Opera running, so you may want to print or copy this down.
Close Opera, and go to your "profile" folder - in an English version of Windows it is at %APPDATA%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\ but I'm not certain which parts of that may get translated in a Polish version. You'll see a file named "Local State", open it in any text editor such as Notepad.
In that file you'll see a section named Location - mine looks like this, obviously yours will refer to Poland instead:
"location": {
"country": "us",
"country_from_server": "US",
"timestamp": "1384558601600000000"
},If you want Google.com, you could just change it to match my settings - though you may want to change the timestamp to prevent it from checking for your location any time soon. I'd suggest changing the 3 to a 4. Save the file ... next time you run Opera, it'll give you google.com.
For the record - you can change the default search engine, but only to another of the built-in search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, Amazon or Wikipedia). Some malware tries to hijack searches; they decided the easiest way to prevent this was to limit the default settings.

While I've been able to set the default search engine for the address bar, haven't been able to modify the default search engine for Speed Dial (or whatever it's called in version 20.0.1387.91).
I'd like to see the SPeed Dial search engine mirror the setting for the address bar.
As always, thank you folks @ Opera.

There is a setting to disable the speed dial search, but it is hidden really well. Haven't seen a way to change it.
(You go to Settings, click outside the search box, then using the keyboard enter the old Konami code to enable "Power User mode":
up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a
Do that, and a number of hidden settings appear in the Browser page, with disabling the speed dial search in the "Start page" section near the bottom.
