New tab home page

Too many clicks needed to get to the page i want when i open a new tab. i do not want speed dial malware nor do i want anything google related. Why has this been made so difficult when all i want is to have the new tab page to open where i want and without an extention.

I guess there are extensions that allow you to do what you want.
