Strange outgoing connections requests

I run latest Opera Beta and I use to allow any connections with Little Snitch. Today instead I took a more reasonable approach and thought to allow only connections which "make sense". So I discovered that Opera Beta asks for odd connections at startup. To name just a couple, the Bank of Ukraine (bank.gov.ua) and the European Central Bank (ecb.europa.eu). I just quit Opera Beta then.
Maybe you have a good reason to request such connections, but I'd really like to know which they are. -

Thanks for your reply. I just discovered that Ukrainian currency is the hryvnja. Is the currency converter somewhere among Preferences? Maybe Personal news? Or do you mean this: https://dev.opera.com/blog/opera-42/ ? Yet I don't get the use of connecting straight away to Bank of Ukraine; why not to Bank of Myanmar or Burkina Faso...

Bank of Ukraine is their source for Ukrainian currency exchange rates.

You should be able to disable currency converter in settings page.
It seems I can't. The only partially relevant option I can find is Preferences > Browser > User Interface > On text selection convert currency. If I uncheck it still Opera connects to banks. To be honest, I don't like it at all. I can live with it, but I'd like more documentation if not transparency. Thanks.
