this would be something on your end. on my and my roommates machines i have never seen this behavior, the only thing i've noticed is if i let too much buildup in history opera will start dragging, but that's normal with any browser.

i forgot to ask are you sure it's bandwidth? i mean is opera sluggish or is it just pages loading slowly? are other apps that connect taking forever to do their job only when opera is open?

i am subscribed to 4mbps broadband plan. when i open any website, it loads accordingly and the wifi stops downloading data.
But when i open FB, even if the page stops loading, the data keeps on downloading. and the same continues for long, even if i close the tab, its still downloading.
Finally i am forced to close the browser.

@faizanmairaj Many sites are dynamically updated so they are constantly sending and receiving information from the browser.
Regarding this happening even with the tab closed, there's a setting for it on settings page.

However, one has to keep perspective about this, and that includes software designers as well. In 2016, almost one forth of those living in rural/less-developed areas did not have access to download speeds of 10 Mbps (compared with 94% of urban dwellers having such access). Ref: https://theconversation.com/technology-is-improving-why-is-rural-broadband-access-still-a-problem-60423. The further reality is that many of those having true high-speed access cannot afford it or find it unavailable at the walls of their home (saturated connection lines/servers that cause providers to refuse adding more service, inadequate wiring in multi-family buildings and rentals, and so on). Consequently, web-facing software should properly support a maximum number of users as they currently exist in the general world, not just those who happen to live in a well-served urban setting.

really didn't need all that. i wasn't insulting him other than to say he should of figured out his connect is the problem aka bottleneck in this situation.
