I use Opera 48 (48.0.2685.50) on macOS High Sierra 10.13. When I started Opera and was using Opera, Multiple VTDecoderXPCService would run on macOS. What is VTDecoderXPCService? Why this proccess run when Opera run? Nearly 20 VTDecoderXPCService often run when opera run.

          VideoToolbox Framework

          Thank you for reply!

Is this VideoToolbox Framework not problem? When I started Opera, Nearly ten these frameworks would to run. In this time, I didn't watch video. No webpage. Only startpage (SpeedDial). When I started Safari, this framework would not to run. When I started Vivaldi, only one this framework would to run.

@kyu3 It's a sanboxed and ”built-in” audio and video API in macOS/OS X. It will run when applications using this API needs to parse for example; video or audio (specially when no hardware acceleration is available for the media) The SpeedDial will is capable of showing animated wallpapers, so it may be that (even if you don't have animated wallpapers set).

However, can you check: opera://gpu/ and post the results you get for Graphics Feature Status.

I found the reason many VTDecoderXPCServices run. It's Extensions! If I enabled some extensions, this framworks would run. Like this video.

I checked. If these extensions were enabled, this framework would run.

If these extensions were enabled, Why would this framework run? When I took this video, I opened only Extension managaer page! 😩

Incidentally, I use these extensions on Vivaldi Browser (Stable 1.12), too. But VTDecoderXPCServices doesn't run by these extensions.

We're working on this via DNA-65259. Only tabs that play software decoded H.264 video will generate new VTDecoderXPCService processes.
