Change Language to Lao

  • I would like to choose the Lao language for the browser. I've been to Setting>Languages but the Lao language is not listed in the dropdown. How can I add it to the dropdown? In the Preferred Languages for Webpages, I've also added Lao but it's not working. The webpage still displays in English.

  • How can I add it to the dropdown?

    You can't.

In the Preferred Languages for Webpages, I've also added Lao but it's not working. The webpage still displays in English.

It's a different issue. What web page? Does it have a Laos version? If so, Laos is set as the primary language in settings?

  • You can't.

    • Why? How about those languages, which are listed in the dropdown? How are those languages listed in the dropdown?

It's a different issue. What web page? Does it have a Laos version? If so, Laos is set as the primary language in settings?

    • I use WordPress. And my website language is set to Lao. In Google Chrome and Firefox, you can change the language setting to open a website in your preferred language. And I've done this with those browsers, except for Opera Browser. It seems that I cannot find a way to do that.
  • Why?

Because users are not allowed to do it.

How about those languages, which are listed in the dropdown? How are those languages listed in the dropdown?

They are the languages available to be uae in Opera's interface. They have a file associated to them in Opera's installation directory.

I use WordPress. And my website language is set to Lao

    What's the address?

  • Yeah, but how are those files created? How are they available to use in Opera's interface? How are the language files created? You didn't answer to the point. I just would like to know how the languages are listed in the dropdown because I want that lao language is listed in the dropdown, too. There're Thai, Vietnamese... but no Lao. How do they add those languages? Who add them? Involving in translation? If so, I can translate.

I'm working locally using WampServer, not online yet because my website is not yet finished. So no live url for you to view. However, I've tested with Google Chrome and Firefox locally. It works well.

  • Yeah, but how are those files created?

They are created by Opera's developers.

How are they available to use in Opera's interface?

The developers have programmed Opera to use them.

There're Thai, Vietnamese... but no Lao.

There are many languages missing. Unfortunately, they can't add all.

Involving in translation? If so, I can translate.

This is not how things work. Those translations are made by professionals.

However, I've tested with Google Chrome and Firefox locally. It works well.

If it works with Chrome then it should work with Opera.
