Opera updates causing it to exit

  • Hi all,

    I'm using Opera 48.0.2685.35 (PGO) on Windows 10 (build 15063) x64.

Opera has been disappearing fairly frequently. There's no error or warning dialog displayed, and nothing logged in the application log, and no sign of a crash dump for the process.
I found that it's actually when Opera automatically applies an update, that the browser process disappears. I setup a procmon trace of it, and found the opera processes are exiting gracefully. The browser does not get restarted afterwards.
It would be nice if it prompted me to restart to apply an update, instead of just deciding to apply it and terminating.

I didn't find any setting to govern automatic updates. Is there such a thing?

    Thanks,

    Adam.

Nope. You should be able to rename the autoupdater executable file to block automatic updates.
