Mail Authentication ---- no help information

I cannot get started with Opera Mail because Authentication fails. I know why (my email service has gone to pot) but I am surprised not to find any information in Help --- it may be there, if so where?

Depends too much on the mail provider for them to say much. Usually you create the account, then go back in under Mail and Chat accounts and edit the servers page. See what your provider says as far as server names, ports and so on.

I cannot get started with Opera Mail

Note that standalone Opera Mail program is incomplete and has was discontinued years ago. There was an Opera Mail in Opera 12 that was complete. However, Opera 12 (and the Opera Mail in it) where discontinued years ago too. You can still use it if you want though.

Also, for more detailed messages of what's wrong with a connection, you can enable logging.
