I tried Opera a while back since I'm looking for an alternative for chrome and opera sounded quite nice with the data-saving and the builtin add-block.
However I am not able to use a specific feature which I use a lot on chrome so I can't really switch..

The "Add to home screen" feature shos a popup where I can change the name all good so far, but when I click on the add option I see a toast message saying the site had been added to my homescreen, however when I check my homescreen nothing is added. I tried it with a few different launchers (also the stock google now) but no success. I am running android 8.0.0 on a Nexus 6P.

Someone has any idea how to solve this issue? Or can it be android 8 related?

Worked here in Nougat. Mind you, it came up on the second panel as there was no room on the first panel (the home screen can be scrolled left or right to show more icons).

I have a Lenovo "2-in-1" (tablet with attached keyboard), they have a customized launcher which they call "Lenovo Launcher" (of course). Doesn't look like they changed much.
