[Solved].lock file extension

Can someone please advise what the .lock files are in the opera users directory please...
I have several examples of them in the developer which remain in the directory directory but in opera beta and the stable version they appear then disappear once the browser is closed.

A lock file is used to indicate a database is being updated and another process should not access it until the update is completed. If Opera is closed then you can delete the file(s).
