      Running 46.0.2597.57 on Windows 10 64

I have set the default search to duckduckgo

Whilst typing into the address bar to search, if I select the google icon in the bottom right of the drop drown that appears when typing ... Opera then changes my default search to google - I have to go into settings to change back to duckduckgo.

This only happens with google. If I select any other search provider icon from the drop down menu, it does not overwrite the default setting - I can search using yahoo, amazon, bing etc one time and then if I open a new tab the default is back to duckduckgo.

But if I select google and search one time... Opera overwrites my default setting, what gives?

Not really sure, in theory, there shouldn't be any issues. People have reported that Opera overrides potentially malicious search engines as to not cause poor traffic. Duckduckgo isn't the safest search engine out there, that is for sure. Have you tried resetting your browser and setting default engine that way? What about Opera reinstall?

It is one of the pre-installed search engines in Opera so you should be able to set it as the default one without any issues.

BTW, I could reproduce the problem here.

@cheesypeas I have the same issue - use Bing, but keeps resetting back to Google after restart. This happens on multiple systems.
