Relocate Pin Sidebar Icon by Block Ads Icon

Might I suggest that some Opera users (and I'm one of them) may not want to see the sidebar on desktop when it's unpinned?
Users either want the sidebar visible, or they do not, but when unpinned it remains visible at present.
I would like to suggest the "Pin Sidebar" shortcut icon might be relocated by the "Block Ads" icon, thus giving users the choice, as Opera through the many years I've used it has been all about user choice. (eg: In settings we have choices, but we have little choice with the sidebar except what to place on it).
When the sidebar is pinned it's bold, when unpinned it's dimmed. The point I'm trying to make is that it remains visible when unpinned and is at times a distraction. Moving the Pin Sidebar icon as suggested would solve this?
To clarify my suggestion, when the sidebar is not pinned, it would not be visible on the desktop? We already have user choice to toggle VPN and Block Ads icons, on/off. Would be great if Pin Sidebar could also be toggled.
Toggle on, you see the sidebar - Toggle off, you don't?

Thought my suggestion was clear enough! But to be sure, when on start page you can either pin the Opera sidebar or not. If not pinned, I for one would rather it not be there. Hence move the pin sidebar icon up the top by block ads where you either pin it or you don't.
To clarify, on the Opera start screen, toggle pin sidebar where toggled on you see the sidebar, toggle off, you don't.

Sidebar toggle is for pages other than Opera's internal pages such as speed dial and bookmarks. The sidebar is getting more features, such as upcoming Opera Snap, and likely other features as well. This and as it also contain the very crucial menu I'm afraid the sidebar is to stay on internal Opera pages. But who knows the sidebar(s) might see several changes as functionality being added so things might change. Perhaps if one could drag the sidebar(s) to narrower. Or toggle to minimize it. At least extension sidebar is hugely wide.
When you toggle sidebar off u toggle it off from web pages.

This is my FINAL word on this thread.
In settings I don't have Sidebar checked, but Opera's Sidebar remains on screen, but dimmed. There is no facility to remove it should the user prefer it not to be on the start screen or speed dial screen or settings.
You can also go to "Customise start page" and even when removing all items from Sidebar, and leaving it unchecked, there remains a dimmed Sidebar.
My suggestion was simple and easy to understand but my point has been missed!
For example, if taskbar icons are removed, you don't continue seeing a dimmed icon - you know what I mean.
Likewise, if the Opera Sidebar is not pinned, we should not continue seeing a dimmed Opera Sidebar, but that's a matter of choice when customising.
In brief, it doesn't really matter where the Pin/Unpin Sidebar icon is, the point is the present inability to make it invisible when empty. For example, when customising the speed dial, users have the option to toggle on/off speed dials.
Snap is only visible when the sidebar is pinned which is dealt with in another thread.

The navigation was "always" there. It has next to zero impact on screen real estate.
Did u notice you can set custom zoom for speed dial (start page)?Open dev tools on Speed Dial find navigation / reborn css etc. And you can play with how wide it is etc.
I'm sure the sidebar will get more advanced in future releases.

I was checking out Vivaldi earlier and came across exactly what I was trying to convey as an addition to Opera.
On Vivaldi start page there is a small icon just above the start button (Win7) which offers user choice to either Hide Panel or to Show Panel (this relating to its sidebar which can also be set on left or right of screen).
When choosing to "hide panel", the sidebar is removed off screen and the page auto-resized. The icon remains in place should the user choose to view the sidebar. (This doesn't delete the sidebar of course, it just moves it).
In other words, when you unpin (hide) the sidebar on Vivaldi, it goes off screen. It doesn't remain dimmed on screen as it presently does in Opera. Should the user choose to pin (show) the sidebar, then it will obviously show.
And that my Opera friends is all I was suggesting in the first place. It's all about allowing the user to customize as they see fit. As both Opera and Vivaldi are built on Chromium, I look forward to my suggestion being given consideration in a future Opera version. Fingers crossed.

Yes it would be great to minimize the sidebar to some 2-3px width, pretty much like in Vivaldi, or how it was in the old Opera (Presto).
Vivaldi has "status bar" while Opera doesn't, so with your suggestion there would always have to be some 2px graphic indicator in the side to reveal the sidebar.
Workaround for you (at least for time being): Set custom zoom sizes for pages, even for speed dial, set it to 90% and leave it and it will be like that until you reset/change it.
If you know css, you can do a local modification for the sidebar to set it's width and size issues. I don't remember the exact location but if ur interested do this. Open start page, open dev tools (ctrl + shift + i) and examine reborn navbar css stuff. You can''t change them all though but it's possible to play with width of it.
