How can I add alternate News Sources to the Opera Personal News side tab?

It seems that only the accepted pre-curated news sites are available to add. Does anyone have a way around this?

You click on 'add sources' and type/paste the url of a site that has a newsfeed source. or you go to a site and click on the blue newspaper icon in the address bar.

That doesn't work. It says not found.

Probably the site doesn't have a newsfeed source or Opera can't handle it.
