Opera leaves internet ports open when using VPN

Fresh install of Opera 46.0. Windows Home 10 build 1511. I went to Gibson Research at www.grc.com to see how Opera stacks up in this aspect of security.
With any of the last several versions of Firefox, on my system(s) the GRC ShieldsUp! utility, which checks the first 1056 IP ports, shows my system as totally stealthed, which means no response to port probes.
With Opera, several ports show as open (22, 78, 80, 443). I was using the VPN feature, and was connecting with https. In addition, the port probe seems to halt at 671. This happened with multiple tries.
When VPN is turned off, connected under https or http, the ports show as stealthed. And the probe completes the 1056 port scan, and shows results.
Should this be a security concern? Or is it common to all VPN?
